Profile Interview

Ansely Brown A.......... College Student

19 year old Newport News, Virginia native, Ansley Brown highly anticipated her attendance at one of Georgia’s most illustrious institutions, Clark Atlanta University. Although she enjoys extra-cirricular activities during her two year matriculation, she is ready to transfer, and looks forward to the opportunities life and other institutions have to offer.

As the oldest of two Ansley knew she needed to set an example for her younger sister so she chose a prestigious institution where she felt the opportunities in journalism would be endless. Although fear held Ansley back from participating in the first couple of weekly activities her freshman year, she adapted. “ I was so sure that I would make friends easily and become an active student. But it wasn’t that simple” Ansley stated. She realized that she needed to interact with students and not just expect people to cling to her. Freshman year seems to be the time when individuals learn more about themselves and people in general. Now as a rising junior Ansley has learned the ropes. On the days when she’s not interning at Upscale Magazine, hanging out with her cousin, or eating her favorite spaghetti noodles, she is participating in activities on campus including membership on the Pre-Alumni Council, editor of Morehouse's newspaper Maroon Tiger, and a member of the Mass Media Arts Club. At home you could find Ansley watching her favorite television show “ Family Guy” or the DVD of her favorite movie “Finding Nemo” while playing with her cat and thinking about the 3 dogs, cat, ginnie pig, turtle and the three fish that she has back in Virginia. This may seem like a good college life to others but not to Ansley. She’s on a journey in life and she feels CAU’s time has passed. “ I like the school but academically and financially it is not up to my standards” Ansley stated. Ansley feels that Clark needs to make some changes. She believes CAU should be a better instituition than what it is now because of the high price tuition that students are paying. Although Ansley feels that there are some problems that Clark needs to fix she does not regret going here."It was a great experience and I will never forget the things that I experienced here or my favorite teacher who has impacted my life and steered me in the right direction for my journalism career." She said speaking of English department
teacher Ms. Hall
